TCS asked employees to work from office at least 3 days a week

Over the last few months India has seen a reduction in the number of Covid-19 cases and an improvement in vaccination numbers across the country, several companies have returned to the old normal of working from the office a long time back and many more are doing so now. There are still many that continue to offer the work from home arrangement to their staff, and according to recent statements one the biggest IT companies Tata Consultancy Services is on its way of recalling all employees back to the office.

TCS has asked employees to work from the office for 3 days/week.
Emphasizing that it is time for larger teams to return to the office and that customers are now visiting TCS offices globally, the IT company sent an email to its employees saying it is mandatory for all to work from the office at least three days a week.

Managers will create a roster, and adhering to the roster is mandatory. The adherence will be tracked. “Needless to mention, any non-compliance will be taken seriously, and administrative measures may be applied,” the mail read.

When the country was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, TCS had previously asked employees to return to their home locations. However, last month, it called its senior employees back to the office. And in the latest mail, the company has asked its larger teams “to start working from the office as well.”

TCS introduces a 25×25 model
“We are moving in a phased manner to get our associates back to the office. This is in line with our vision to transition to the 25×25 model,” a TCS spokesperson said.

Announced after the introduction of the work from home model, the 25×25 model was introduced by CEO Rajesh Gopinathan in May 2020. It refers to the plan under which only 25 per cent of employees would be expected to work from the office by 2025. More recently, he has been quoted as saying that the model needs to be executed in a more controlled manner.

Until then, all employees would be asked to return to the office.
“This will also be an opportunity to welcome a significant number of our new colleagues, who have joined us over the last two years, most of whom have not yet been in a TCS office,” the TCS mail added.
