Tata 1mg has appointed Gurpreet Singh as its new Human Resources Director
Gurpreet has over 20 years of experience in the field of human resources, and she has worked for many organizations including HSBC, Capgemini India, and TCS.
Tata 1mg is a leading global manufacturer of metals, mining equipment, and industrial products. The company has operations in over 60 countries and employs around 55,000 people across its manufacturing facilities across the globe.
The company is headquartered in Mumbai and was founded in 1868 by Jamsetji Tata, who was an Indian businessman who made his fortune from the family business of cotton textiles. He was also responsible for founding what is now known as Tata Sons Limited, one of India’s largest conglomerates with interests spread across various sectors including power generation, steel, telecoms, and engineering services.
In December 2018, Tata Steel announced that it had agreed to sell its European steel business to ArcelorMittal for Euro 7.4 billion (around $9 billion). This purchase marks the end of a long-standing partnership between these two companies with over 40 years of experience working together on projects such as the construction of Port Talbot steelworks since 1998 until this day when they decided to part ways after making an offer which was not accepted by ArcelorMittal. Singh joined Tata 1mg in August 2018 as the head of human resources for TATA Global Services Limited (TGS), a subsidiary of Tata Sons Ltd. He is also a member of TGS’ Board of Directors.
Before joining TGS, Singh was the president and CEO of TCS’s North American operations. Before that, he held senior leadership positions at IBM, where he led global talent management activities and programs.

Singh comes from a family of doctors and has over 20 years of experience working in the field. He will be responsible for leading a team of about 50 people who are responsible for all aspects of employee management.
Gurpreet is a well-known name in the industry and has over 20 years of experience in HR management. He has worked at companies including Tata Consultancy Services and Reliance Industries, where he led the People Recruitment function.
He holds an MBA from the Indian School of Business and specializes in leadership development and talent management.
