Cognizant has been suffering from a challenging market environment,which has resulted in underperformance. The company is looking to get its mojo back under its new CEO, Ravi Kumar. He faces several challenges including pressure on profits and rising competition from rivals like Accenture and Infosys.
He is a seasoned professional with over 2 decades of experience, who’s been with Cognizant for the last 4 years. Ravi Kumar has been instrumental in helping the company become one of the top 2 IT services providers globally by revenue. His biggest challenge may be getting the company prepared for an uncertain future as it transitions from being a pure consulting firm, to a shift toward digital services and automation. Kumar previously served as the chief operating officer of the IT services firm. He also worked at Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Cisco Systems in various leadership roles.
He will take on the role of both the COO & CTO while continuing to lead the business development function. His primary focus as Chief Executive Officer will be to execute the firm’s strategy and drive long-term value creation for its clients, employees, shareholders, and stakeholders in order to help make India an IT destination.
