India’s unemployment rate is the highest for Dec in 16 months at 8.3%.

India’s unemployment rate has reached its highest level for December in 16 months at 8.3%, according to the latest data released by the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO). The figure is up from 7.8% in November and is the highest since October 2016.
The NSSO data also revealed that the proportion of people who are employed increased in urban areas but declined in rural areas. In urban areas, 3.7% of men are employed compared to 2.1% of women, while in rural areas, 4.8% of men are employed compared to 6.1% of women.
The unemployment rate in India, which was expected to rise to 6.6% in 2019, has slipped to 8.3%, according to the latest data released by the Labour Bureau.
The country’s unemployment rate is at its highest since September 2017 when it stood at 8.4%. The government has been focusing on job creation, especially with the coming elections, which will be held in May 2021.
There were 1,49,800 people registered as unemployed as of April 1 this year. This number includes people who have left their jobs due to layoffs and those who are looking for employment but have not applied for one yet.
The government has launched several measures to help boost employment but they have not been able to provide enough jobs. The government has also encouraged employers to hire more people who are not currently working or have left their jobs without providing them with financial benefits.
The data released by the Labour Bureau shows that there were around 5 lakh unemployed men and 3 lakh women who lost their jobs in December 2018.
The country’s unemployment rate was 8.3% as of December month, which is more than one percentage point higher than the previous month of November.
The figures have come down from 8.5% in October and 8.6% in November but remain high compared to the average monthly average of 7.4%.
According to a report by the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO), the unemployment rate in India has increased to 8.3% as compared to 8.1% in November, which was recorded as the lowest since May 2018. The official unemployment rate is defined as the percentage of those unemployed who are actively looking for jobs, while the statistical indicators measure those without a job but who are available for work. The NSSO also found that 1.44 lakh persons were registered with employment exchange authorities in December 2019, which is an increase of 25 thousand from November 2019.
The unemployment rate in India increased to 8.3% in December, the highest level since April 2017, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI). The national unemployment rate was 7.7% in November 2019.
The National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) has released its report for March 2019-20 under the MGNREGS based on the household survey conducted between April 1 and May 31, 2019. The NSSO has also released its report for March 2019-20 under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
According to the NSSO report for March 2019-20, there were 2.5 crores, unemployed persons, in rural areas and 3 crore unemployed persons in urban areas as compared to 2.6 crore unemployed persons during January-March 2018-19 (the previous year) while there were 59 lakh additional entrants into active employment during March 2019 as compared to February 2019.
