HUL announced today that Sanjiv Mehta has stepped down as Chairman and CEO. Mr. Mehta will continue as a director of the company. Vivek Paul, who was previously the company’s President and Managing Director, will now take over as CEO and MD. Mr. Paul joined HUL in 2015 from Colgate-Palmolive where he was responsible for consumer products in India and Africa.
The company has appointed HUL CEO & MD Sanjiv Mehta as its new Chairman. He will continue in this position until the end of April 2021, or until a replacement is appointed by the Board of Directors.
Pankaj Patel has been with the company since 2005 and has served in various operational, executive, and investor-relations roles within the organization. He was previously the head of HUL’s Consumer Healthcare Division and is currently leading the company’s expansion into new markets including South East Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (HUL) has announced that Sanjiv Mehta will be stepping down as CEO and MD on 1 October 2018. He will be replaced by Rakesh Kapoor, who has been appointed Executive Director of the company.
Mr. Kapoor has more than 30 years of experience in the food industry, having held senior positions at companies including Unilever and Nestlé India. He is an alumnus of Cornell University in New York and Harvard Business School in Boston, where he received an MBA.

HUL Company’s new CEO & MD: HUL Company, the largest food, and beverage conglomerate in India, has appointed Shriram Subramanian as its new MD and CEO. As per the announcement made today, Sanjiv Mehta will step down from his position as MD & CEO of HUL by 31st December 2020. He will be stepping down from his current post at HUL after serving for 10 years.
Shriram Subramanian is currently serving as CFO of Nestle India Ltd., since March 2019. Before this, he was CFO of Unilever India Ltd. from December 2018 till March 2019. Before joining Nestle India Ltd., he was working with Reckitt Benckiser (India) Pvt Ltd as Director-Customer Business Development (East) from September 2017 till October 2018.
Sanjiv Mehta, who has been heading HUL since 2009, will be stepping down from the post and will be replaced by Pankaj Patel by June 1. The company said that Patel will work as CEO for three years.
Mehta was appointed as the CEO of the company in 2009 and was responsible for its expansion into the US market and its entry into the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) space. He graduated with a degree in chemistry from IIT Delhi in 1981 and worked as a scientist at Unilever before moving to HUL where he rose through the ranks to become CEO in 2009.
Mr. Kaul has been with the company for over 25 years, most recently serving as the Executive Director of HUL’s foods business, which includes brands like Britannia, Britannia Pampers, and Amul Butter.
