Tata Motors completes acquisition of Ford India’s Sanand plant

Tata Motors announces the completion of the acquisition of Ford’s Sanand plant. The acquisition also includes the engine manufacturing unit and complete transmission system at Sanand and the entire Ford dealerships in Gujarat. Ford India has signed a pact with Tata Motors to acquire a manufacturing facility in Sanand. The deal is for room for expansion of the plant that currently employs about 1,500 people. Ford India said it would invest 2 billion rupees (about $30 million) in the factory over the next five years.

It was founded in 1873 by Jamsetji Tata and is considered to be one of the largest private sector corporations in India and ranked 2nd in terms of market capitalization among all public companies in India.

In March 2018, the Tata Motors group announced the acquisition of the Sanand facility located in Gujarat, India. The acquisition was completed on June 12, 2019, with a value of $35 million. This included the cost of land and buildings and equipment including machinery, spares and production records, etc., with conversion work scheduled to commence as part of the acquisition

The Sanand plant was the first manufacturing facility opened by Ford in 1972. And came to be known as one of its flagship companies in India. Around 600 people will be transferred to different roles at the new organization.

It is one of India’s oldest and most respected automobile company. It has sales of over 2.1 million units in India during the year ended 31 March 2019. The company has a highly successful track record in designing, engineering. And, also manufacturing world-class automobiles that are preferred by customers across the globe.
