Wipro appoints Simmi Dhamija as Chief Operating Officer of the APMEA

Wipro has announced the appointment of Simmi Dhamija as its Chief Operating Officer of the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APMEA).

Dhamija is an experienced management professional with a strong track record in business development and growth strategy within the IT services industry. She has held several senior positions at IBM, including Vice President and Head of IBM’s India operations. She also worked for Infosys as a Senior Vice President and Global Head of APMEA before joining Wipro in 2018.

Wipro is headquartered in Bengaluru, India, and has over 110,000 employees worldwide. The company provides IT solutions to global organizations across industries like finance, healthcare, telecom, and utilities.

Wipro today announced that Simmi Dhamija has been appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer, of APMEA.

Dhamija, who was most recently Chief Executive Officer of Wipro’s Global Business Services division, will report to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Ranjit Gupta in his new role.

“Simmi is an accomplished leader with deep experience in managing large-scale businesses,” said Gupta. “His passion for customer experience and his ability to build strong relationships with customers across geographies will be key enablers for Wipro’s growth strategy.”

Wipro has appointed Simmi Dhamija as its new Chief Operating Officer. Dhamija will lead Wipro’s business units across APMEA, North America, and Europe. She will be based in Bengaluru, India.

Dhamija is a management veteran who has spent the last 15 years with Wipro, rising through the ranks from sales and customer service to executive roles such as managing director of Wipro’s APMEA region, managing director of Wipro’s North American operation and managing director of Wipro’s Europe operations.

She was also responsible for driving growth in the company’s sales team by increasing customer retention rates and increasing the sales pipeline by over 20%.

Wipro, one of the largest IT services companies in the world, announces that Simmi Dhamija has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer for the Asia Pacific Middle East & Africa region.

Dhamija is a senior executive with over 20 years of experience in strategy and operations across multiple industries including technology, banking, financial services, healthcare, and government. She has worked with some of the most well-known global brands across these sectors including Accenture, Wipro Technologies, and Capgemini.

Her leadership experience includes leading cross-functional teams to drive business transformation by delivering breakthrough results with new capabilities and platforms; driving digital transformation initiatives to deliver game-changing customer experiences; leading customer-centric service delivery teams for clients in banking & financial services; helping government agencies transform their operations through digitalization; driving innovation in product development processes across global banks; leading teams responsible for customer success strategies; managing complex projects onshore while working offshore as well; driving critical project execution activities across multiple geographies at Wipro Technologies.
